The year 2020 is one we will all remember. It has been a wild journey for humanity. As we celebrate Summer Solstice and enter into a new season, I wanted to offer a few healing practices and thoughts that may support your emotional wellbeing during these uncertain times.
In Ayurveda and Vedic astrology, it is said that the planetary movements and the entire cosmos influence our collective consciousness. This year's Summer Solstice coincides with a new moon, solar eclipse, and several planets in retrograde (Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto). Eclipses can bring sudden change, upheavals, and transformations on our planet. Planetary retrogrades often summon us to slow down, rewind, and reflect on past mistakes, traumas, or events. It's an opportunity to redo and relearn lessons. Our journey on planet Earth is to evolve our consciousness and grow into more loving and expansive beings. With the tools of meditation and mindfulness, we can thrive and discover harmony even in the midst of chaos and confusion. Our ancient seers and yogis recommend going within and strengthening our spiritual practices during such times.
Both yoga and Vedic astrology are sister-sciences to Ayurveda and I regularly integrate these wisdom traditions into my life and holistic medicine practice.
