Hot water therapy is one of the best and easiest practices to transform your health. This simple practice is an ancient Indian medicine ritual that will enhance digestion and reduce bloating while rejuvenating every organ of your body, including your skin and brain.
It will strengthen your kidneys, give you more energy, enhance your mood, help you loose water weight and body fat.
Can you guess what it is? Sipping hot water throughout the day.
There are so many benefits of drinking hot water. If you have ever hung out with me, you’ll notice that I usually ask for hot water wherever I’m at–if I'm at a dinner, at the movies, or at a party, I will often carry a mug with hot water.
Hot water increase digestive fire or Agni, so it enhances metabolism and absorption. This is especially important if you are eat a heavy diet, lots of meat, processed foods or leftovers, or are drinking more alcohol than usual.
Hot water helps to flush out water-soluble toxins from body tissues. It allows for deeper penetration and purification of the subtle channels in the body like your cells. Remember that the human body is composed on nearly 70% water. You are basically made out of water.
Water keeps you hydrated and supple. Drinking warm or hot water can also help prevent injuries by keeping your muscles hydrated.
In Ayurveda sipping on hot water balances vata and kapha dosha. This means it can benefit your mind and body by reducing stress, fear, feelings of anxiety, lethargy and also clear sinus and colon congestion.
Hot water is one of the best detoxifying agents for the body. There is a concept in Ayurveda called AMA or toxic sludge. Hot water helps to dissolve and eliminate this greasy, sticky sludge that can line our intestines. Hot water hydrates and dialtes body channels helping to open tissues and push toxins out. It’s one of the best flushes for the lympathic system.
Try sipping on hot water every thirty minutes or take a few sips every hour.
DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER OR COLD WATER. Most tap water has trace levels of pesticides and pharmaceutical drugs — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers, birth control. Make sure you are at least drinking purified water, reverse osmosis, or better yet fresh spring water from a clean source. Cold water constricts the body channels.
